In 2009, a serious accident occurred on the Xcelerator roller coaster at Knott’s Berry Farm in California. During the high-speed launch, the ride’s hydraulic cable snapped under extreme tension, sending metal debris toward the front of the train. A 12-year-old rider sitting in the front row was struck in the leg and seriously injured, while another rider reported neck and back pain. Investigators later determined the failure was linked to maintenance and inspection issues. The ride was shut down
