Why don't I recommend a timeout? I think it's humiliating; kids are the same as us, they just can't articulate how things feel like we can. Let’s say for example you make a mistake at work and your boss makes you face the wall for 36 minutes because you’re 36 years-old; it would be humiliating. Same for kids. In my opinion, kids aren’t thinking about what they did in timeout, they are just sitting by themself feeling bad about themselves. Instead, for kids three and over, I use consequences. We

How do I keep my toddler in timeout? Personally, I don’t recommend timeouts for any age. So I would suggest you don't do it, and instead focus on consistent corrective actions every single time they do something that you don't like. I'd suggest picking one behavior per week that you wanna correct, and you just do consistent corrective actions. As an example, if they throw a toy, you say no, and you put that toy where they can see it, but can't touch it. You have to do it every single time though

Consider THIS if you’re using Timeout (forced isolation) as a form of discipline. 👇🏼👇🏼 All behavior (every last one) communicates one of two things: - An unmet need, or - An underdeveloped skill Children learn to SUPPRESS emotions when their parents/caregivers consistently: - Use fear based tactics to modify behavior quickly; this includes yelling at, threatening or punishing children - Use forced isolation (time-out), expecting the child to “calm down” on their own - Ignore the child’s emot

Explaining Parenting on Instagram: "the classic timeout method — the parenting tool that’s somehow both famous and controversial at the same time 😅 The timeout method is a discipline strategy where a child is briefly removed from a situation after misbehavior. The idea isn’t punishment for punishment’s sake — it’s to give the child time to calm down, reset, and understand that certain behaviors have consequences. Here’s how it’s supposed to work: When a child breaks a rule (like hitting, yellin
