Dr Kat’s Answer- Radial Nerve Paralysis!! As the gelding is unable to extend the forelimb- I recognized he most likely had a neurological issue. He can retract the limb normally and bear weight- but is completely unable to extend. Additionally- I did not palpate ANY signs of pain, heat, swelling, cracking (very bad sign), or other abnormalities and the gelding was in no distress. This injury is most commonly caused by extended periods of the horse in lateral recumbency- or the horse laying on it
